Educate Together commissioned a survey (A.Seery et al, 2007) to determine whether there was a demand for Educate Together Second-level schools. The published results of the survey (A Feasibility Study for the Opening of a Second-Level School by Educate Together (Seery et al. 2007) clearly indicated that parents who choose to send their children to Educate Together Primary schools would send their children to Educate Together Secondary schools. In 2008, a Draft Curricular Framework for an Educate Together Second-level School (Geraghty) was also published. In addition, the number of Educate Together Primary Schools had grown to 56 by 2009, and this in itself began to create demand, particularly where there were clusters of Educate Together schools, for example, in Lucan, West Dublin.

In 2009, Educate Together published ‘Taking the Next Step: A Blueprint for Educate Together Second-level Schools’, which was strongly endorsed by a wide range of education professionals, parents, academics and politicians. On the 28 November, 2013, The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D., announced the patrons for a new post-primary school which would open in Balbriggan in 2016. The new school was established under the patronage of Educate Together. The announcement was the culmination of the process which began in June 2011 when the Minister announced that 20 new post-primary schools were to be established up to 2017 to cater for increasing student numbers.

The new school was called Bremore Educate Together Secondary School. In February 2016 Kathy Jones was appointed Principal of Bremore ETSS. The school opened in September 2016 in prefabs located beside St George's National School, previously occupied by Coláiste Ghlór Na Mara. A permanent site was acquired by the DES on the Naul Road. Kennedy Fitzgerald were appointed as the architects for the new 1000 pupil school. The Clann System (Vertical House System) was established in 2016, students choose to name the Clanns after the founding teachers. They then choose the class names associated with they Clann. The permanent building was completed in October 2018. There are now currently 622 students in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Year.
