5th Year Return to School Monday 15th March

Dear Parents/Guardians/Students,

I am very happy to be sending you this note and preparing for the return of our 5th Year Students on Monday 15th of March. I have no doubt that they are all looking forward to being back among their friends and enjoying the classroom experience. The routines that were put in place at the beginning of the school year are back in operation.

The remote learning programme for 5th year will now cease, however I’d like to commend and thank thoes who participated in the remote learning for their fantastic effort over the last few months.

Now that we can look forward to our 5th year students returning, I would like to remind everyone that the safe and continued return of our school is dependent on our school community observing all Covid 19 regulations and being very vigilant to the dangers of this virus. With this in mind, I would ask all parents to review the information and guidelines on the following link. https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/a04fc-advice-for-students-and-their-families/

I would also be grateful if you would read the notes below so that we all understand the measures we need to take to protect each other.

Declaration Forms:

A return to school declaration form MUST be completed for all 5th Year students before their return. The declaration form can be found on the App and all 5th Year students have been emailed a copy.

School Starting Times

The school gates will be open from 8.20 am and tutorial for 5th Year will take place in the atrium at 8.30am, following this students will be directed to their classrooms. Students who arrive later must have a note in the diary from a parent or guardian explaining why they are arriving late to school.

Home Time:

Dismissal times will continue as before.

After School:

We are asking all students to go directly home after school and to refrain from congregating in the local area.

Parents:

Parents are asked not to enter school grounds and to refrain from congregating at school gates.

Attendance:

It is essential for the safety of all our school community that any child who shows a sign or symptom of being unwell is kept at home from school and remains at home until they are feeling completely better.
“If in doubt please stay out!”

Following any absence:

following any absence a declaration form must be completed by students before they return to school.

Communication

All communication to the school should be processed by e-mailing your childs tutor or through the school secretary by telephone (if you leave a voicemail message your call will be returned as soon as possible)

Collection during school hours: If you need to collect your child during school hours, please ensure you write a note in the students journal which they will show to the tutor and subject teacher or in emergancy phone ahead to inform the school and wait for your child outside the main entrance.

Masks:

Masks must be worn at all times by all students and adults when entering the school grounds.

Canteen:

The canteen will not be open until the full return of all students. 5th year students are encouraged to bring a lunch with them.

Ventilation

The windows will be open as before around the school, students are encouraged to wear warm clothes.

Social distance:

Students are reminded to take personal responsibility for social distancing during lunch time, morning time and home time. Please discuss this with your child before they return as these times were of particular concern to us during September-December, students tend to forget social distancing when they see friends.

We are excited that on Monday, we will be welcoming our 5th Years back to school, a return to familiar routines and experiences. If everyone adheres to the guidlines the return will be a success which will mean all of the students in other year groups will be able to return after the Spring Break!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon and stay safe.

Yours sincerely,

Kathy Jones
