Bremore Educate Together Secondary School

5th Year RSE

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We will be delivering the Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) programme to 5th Year students over the coming weeks. RSE is a module in the SPHE syllabus and is a required part of the curriculum. The way in which it is taught in this school is informed by our ethos and mission statement. You can view the RSE Policy on the school website.

We are very aware of your role as the child’s first educator. We would appreciate your support by talking to your child about the RSE programme and helping them with any concerns they may have. A complete breakdown of the SPHE curriculum, which includes comprehensive details on the RSE module, is available for your information on

While all partners in the school community – teaching staff, parents and management are agreed on the programme we recognise nevertheless the right of any parent / guardian who so wishes to request that his / her son / daughter should not participate in the programme. The school will respect this choice. Where students are withdrawn from RSE the school cannot take responsibility for any versions of class content passed onto them by other students. Parents / Guardians wishing to withdraw their son / daughter must contact the Principal / Deputy Principal in the first instance. After a discussion with the Principal / Deputy Principal if the parent or guardian still wishes to withdraw their child from RSE then this request should be made in writing to the Principal / Deputy Principal.

Should you have any queries or concerns please contact the school and we will support you in any way possible.

Kind Regards,

Carol Murphy, Gillian Farrell, Yvonne Hynes, Christopher Kearney, Hazel Gannon
