SUBSET Visit / Creative Highlight of the Month!
Our Art Department was very busy this month as one of the most amazing Dublin based mural artist collectives called the SUBSET visited our school.
During the visit one of the members from the group met up with our first year students to have a chat about their motivation to create mural art and obstacles they had to overcome while working on some of their most popular projects. In the meeting students had an opportunity to ask questions and have a conversation about the technical aspect of creating mural paintings as well as the impact it has on communities. This was followed by an excellent presentation of some of the most inspiring works from the SUBSET including the well known painting of David Attenborough in the Longwood Avenue in Dublin.
Below are a few examples of murals created by the SUBSET out of which every has a unique and distinct style. Thank you to all of the members of this group which continues to bring a positive change into our communities by creating art that is meaningful and impactful.
This meeting had been organised as part of our wellbeing mural painting project at the Taylors Hill Lane in Bralbriggan. The project aims to transform this once very forgotten place in Balbriggan into a welcoming and friendly oasis for local communities. The project is funded by the Creative Ireland Fund from the Fingal County Council. The money from the fund will cover the costs of running this project as well as its launch in September.
