Meeting with Aidan Harte

Meeting with Aidan Harte

Last week our 5th year students had an online meeting with an amazing artist Aidan Harte who talked to them about the process of creating a sculpture and discussed the importance of planning and sketching. Aidan works mainly in bronze but the process he goes through while building a sculpture often involves creating a clay mockup. As our class recently started their clay sculpture project, meeting with Aidan gave them an opportunity to find out more information about the process from someone with a professional experience in this art discipline.

Aidan studied sculpture in Florence and many of his pieces resemble his inspiration in classical art. He is well known for the famous Puca horse sculpture and during his artistic career he created a range of beautifully detailed bronze sculptures which are often inspired by mythological characters. His attention to detail and excellent imagination makes a viewer want to spend more time on understanding the emotional meaning of each piece. Meeting up with Aidan was an interesting experience that not only sparked our students' imagination but also helped them to get a better insight into the practicality of a task which is ahead of them.

A generous Thank You to Aidan for being so fantastic with our students and answering all of their questions while also showing many photos of his work in progress and sparking our imagination with his impressive work.

If you would like to check some of Aidan's work, have a look at pictures below or visit his website below: www.aidanharte.com.
