Dear Parent/Guardian,
The term of office of the Bremore ETSS Board of Management is due expire and a new Board of Management is to be established.
The Board comprises eleven members. Two are nominated by the Parents/Guardians, two by the teaching staff, two by the Trustees, two community representatives and two student associate members . The Board operates as a corporate body and all members are appointed by the Trustees.
Two parents/guardians of children enrolled in the school (one being a female and the other a male) must be elected by the general body of parents of children enrolled in the school.
Parents/guardians are invited to a meeting in the school on Wednesday 11th September 2019 at 7.30pm. This is a general meeting of all parents called for the purpose of making nominations for election to the Board, an election will also be held by secret ballot of all those present. This meeting is organised by the Parents Council and is open to all parents/legal guardians. It should be advised that the consent of the nominee has to be sought before putting the name forward. Those standing do not have to attend but will need to have a proposer and seconder present at the meeting. If only one female and one male are nominated they will be deemed elected. In the event of a tied vote the elected parent is determined by lot. Voting will be on a ‘first past the post basis’ i.e. each person shall have one, non-transferable vote.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the current Parent Nominees, Judith Makris and Mbemba Jabbi for their commitment and hard work. I have really enjoyed working with them. A special debt of gratitude is owed to all those who serve on our current Board of Management. In agreeing to their appointment to a Board of Management a member of a Board is undertaking the valuable task of helping to shape and manage the voluntary secondary schools entrusted to their care. This work is done on a voluntary basis and while much of it is routine, nevertheless, it requires a commitment in terms of time and goodwill that is, perhaps, sometimes taken for granted. With the involvement of parents, teachers and trustee nominees, Boards of Management in our schools represent a true example of local partnership in action.
