ARRANGEMENTS FOR SUMMER ASSESSMENTS AND END OF YEAR CALENDAR EVENTS
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of what has been a challenging year, I am writing to you to outline our alternative arrangements for Summer Assessments:
* Online assessments will take place in each subject during the week of 11th-15th May 2020. Each subject department will devise common assessments for first, second and transition year classes which will reflect the work studied in class and through distance learning over the past number of months. These examinations will be graded and used to form part of each students’ summer report, which will be available on Vsware towards the end of the year. Your child’s teacher will be offering guidance on these assessments over the coming week through our Teams and One Note platforms. Third year students have been informed of their assessment plan separately, in line with Department of Education and Skills guidelines.
We here in Bremore ETSS take pride in offering a vibrant and engaging educational experience for our students, and we didn’t want this end of school year to be any different! We have devised a number of fun and engaging end of year activities to celebrate the students hard work to date.
- Phenomenon Based Learning (P.B.L.) – we will be running a P.B.L. week from the 18th-22nd of May. Our P.B.L. Team are hard at work trying to create an engaging distance P.B.L. experience for our students. P.B.L. events allow students to develop a love of learning, critical thinking skills and self-directed learning in areas that may not traditionally be covered by the curriculum. We are looking forward to seeing all the wonderful projects!
- Sports Day, Assemblies and Awards – during the final week of school from 25th -29th May we will be holding a series of fun activities as we celebrate the end of our school year and all the achievements of our fantastic students.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our school community for their hard work and commitment over these past few challenging months. “Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out” – every member of our school community - our Students, Parents/Guardians, Teachers, SNA’s, ancillary staff and the Board of Management, have all played their part in making these difficult times an easier place to navigate.
