Correspondence to Students Entering 5th Year in September 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am writing to you to outline and explain your ICT Education package options for Senior Cycle. Please read the following guidelines carefully before logging on to purchase your ICT package.

- You will then be prompted to choose the appropriate online Store. Either a New or Existing iPad option.
- All students must purchase a Wriggle iPad bundle which covers management of their device for 5th and 6th year and allows ebooks to be added to the iPads. This is in line with our Acceptable Usage Policy and supports the iPad being used in a safe and responsible manner, and as an educational tool only. All students paid a €99 3-year Junior Cycle fee, which has now expired, and needs to be renewed.
- The cost of this service is €80 and covers 5th and 6th year. If you choose this option, you select ‘Existing 5th year bundle’. In order for your iPad to be configured, Wriggle need to collect each students iPad and reset it in order for ebooks to be added. This will take approximately 30 days to complete, so it is important that if you are choosing this option, you do so within the next few weeks to ensure it is returned to school on time for school resuming. Further instruction on this process are available below.*
- If you would prefer to purchase a brand-new iPad, please log on to the Wriggle Store and select ‘New 5th Year Student’ We advise all students to select the 32 GB iPad option as each student has cloud storage in their One Drive account. Wriggle configuration and licencing fees are available in this package also. Wriggle recommends that these orders are purchased before the 5th July to ensure they are delivered on time, ahead of school returning.
- All students must purchase ebooks for senior cycle which will be available on their iPads. We secured a very good price of €70 for all EdCo Senior Cycle ebooks per year, regardless of the subject options. When you log onto your Wriggle Store, you must choose either a 1-year ebook licence for €70 or a 2-year ebook licence for €140 (which also covers 6th year). For those parents who applied for and were granted a book grant, you will receive a €65 ebook voucher code, which can be redeemed on the Wriggle store for your book costs. This may already have been emailed to you. Purchasing ebooks is available on both store options.
- This year, Wriggle are offering a ‘Flexi-Fi’ finance option that some families may wish to apply for.
- A small number of students, who joined our school this year, have already purchased new iPads, so these students will only need to purchase the ebooks, not the iPad re-reconfigure package. Wriggle will open a third store (ebooks only) for these students in the coming days and we will contact this small group, to let you know about this option is ready.
*Additional Information for Students who select ‘Existing 5th year bundle’
As mentioned above, all iPads that are to be reconfigured must be returned to Wriggle for a minimum of 30 days. You will notice with this option, that the below message pops up on your Wriggle Store:
In this instance, you will simply pay for iPad reconfiguration and your ebooks.
In order for reconfiguration to occur in a timely manner, we ask that all ‘Existing 5th year bundle’ purchases are completed by 26th June.
We will arrange for safe iPad drop off to the school the week of 29th June. Each student must download and complete the ‘BYOD form’ (emailed to all students) and stick to their iPad envelope/box. If you do not have access to a printer, there will be spare copies available in school for use, when drop-off is arranged.
As many existing iPads were purchased in 2016, Wriggle engineers assured that if these iPads are in good condition, they should still be suitable for re-configuration, however they may be slightly slower when using certain Apps.
